The City Index platform has always been a sticking point. It's solid, it can do pretty much anything you throw at it, but it's not a comfortable user-experience. We took it on ourselves to take the customer research, analyse it carefully and re-imagine the trading platform. This was not a redesign; we threw the old platform in the bin and started again.
Desktop & Browser Based App
From the ground up we completely redesigned the platform, with one identity working across all devices
The Mobile App
Traders tend to primarily trade on their desktop. The larger screen and more reliable internet connection offer a sturdier foundation to research and study potential opportunities. However, once the trade has been placed, monitoring open positions on the move becomes equally important. We streamlined the trading experience on mobile, bring the journey inline with that of the desktop to make it feel part of the same package (which it is). We also emphasised the ability to easily monitor open trades and account stats at a glance.

Designing for the Apple Watch
As an extension to the mobile app, the Apple Watch app enhances the users experience and awareness. With the main premise on keeping an eye on open positions, the user can also execute trades from their wrist in a simple, intuitive way.
